Cuba, here I come!
In exactly 4 hours, I am leaving for the airport....to go to Cuba!
I'll be going there for a swim meet/travel/visit orphanages.
I'll be back in one week...And no, I will not be bringing back cigars.*
* I am against all forms of inhalation (hooka, smoking, etc).
and once again, this blog is for Tony.

thanks (sarcastic) dad!
Wow. My dad just totally did a verbal attack on me....and not even to my face. (I was standing next to James)
Dad: you should go to Cal Poly
James: what about UCR? I can get funded for dorms
Dad: why would you want to go to UCR? you have to drive... (i drive to UCR)
Dad: if you go to cal poly, you can wake up late and drive there easily
James: UC system is a better education than cal state isnt it?
Dad: no smart people come out of the UC system. only useless people and brain dead people. (i'm useless again! tks dad -__-)
James: lots of smart people are in the UC system.
Dad: i haven't seen any.
Dad: You should go to UCI. You can drive there. (...the mileage is nearly the same from UCI or UCR)
Dad: or maybe UCSD.
Dad: you might be able to go UCSD because no one can afford it (now he calls James stupid)

Cats!
Cats are now the bane of my life.
They didn't use to be...but something happened to my body in my year spent abroad. I never used to be allergic to cats (minor allergies are now major); but now, if I stand in the same room as cats, my poor skin gets super dry, red, and breaks out. So many people have commented, "Tiffany, what happened to your face?! Are you okay? You're so red!" and other comments. But what can I do?
It's not like I can avoid cats (unfortunately). Why not? Because I'm allergic to my boyfriend's cat. But not just his cat, but also his mom's five cats, his sister's one spazzy cat, and his grandmother's little scaredy cat. So even if he were to give his cat away, he'd still be carrying dander on his clothes from whenever he goes home or to see his family.
I'm so sad because I adore his cat (and the rest of the other cats). But I can't keep living like this. My allergies make me miserable and nothing works except for staying away. We really are trying. Three years, we've stayed together--that includes our year apart. We had better work past my allergies or find a solution.
I don't want this to end because of cats.
I do give my love to all the cats though:
Chitta
Numir
Portia
Isis
Bachus
Bcat
Chaucer
and Grandma's cat (Ginger?)

Ants!
The sky was sad...
So it opened its mouth and out came the rain!
"Oh no!" said the ants,
and so to the patio door they ran.
But man, were they unlucky...
and at the door they met their match!
And piled and piled and piled...
until "whoosh!" they were vac-ed away.

If I Won $100000...
Today, on my drive back from the beach (after an awesome couple hours of surfing and a great lunch at the Secret Spot), I passed by a sign that said Pac 9 (or something like that) Jackpot- $100000. That got me thinking, what would I do if I won $100000? And this is what immediately popped into my head: (in this exact order)
1. I would pay off my immediate school loans ($8000)
2. I would open a trust fund for James' college education ($42000)
3. I would invest the rest of the money in stocks or something else...and if I make a good return, I'd help James out a bit more!
::sigh:: It makes me feel good that those are the first things that popped into my head. Aren't I a great sister x)

Hope
Today was my first day of work at my new internship-the Make-A-Wish Foundation. For two hours, I did data entry and called to verify information. Granted, I didn't finish all that many wish referrals (as they're called) but man, it was quite an experience.
Many of the families I called were quite guarded when they first answered the phone. But after I told them I was calling from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they all quickly perked up and their voice were hopeful. It was so awesome and gratifying to hear the change in their voices from guarded and tiredness/frustration to hope and happiness that their child had the possibility of having a wish come true.
It's nice to work for a cause, to be able to help and inspire hope and happiness. Hopefully, I'll be more efficient and increase my productivity on Monday. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
